San Diego Air & Space Museum displays Pueblo-stored models in “Leonardo da Vinci’s First Flight” exhibition opening February 2025

Pueblo, CO – January 28, 2025 – The San Diego Air & Space Museum will feature over 30 large-scale replicas of Leonardo da Vinci’s flying machines, hands-on experiments and interactive exhibits opening February 1, 2025. This interactive exhibit, presented by the Artisans of Florence on behalf of the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci, includes hands-on experiments and a stunning 39-foot wing replica of da Vinci’s hang glider.

This remarkable glider, along with several other models, will be part of the permanent installation at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of North America, set to open in Pueblo, Colorado.

“We are thrilled to share the genius of Leonardo da Vinci across the country through the incredible work of the Artisans of Florence,” said Joe Arrigo, chairman of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of North America. Arrigo has been collaborating with the City of Pueblo and the Artisans of Florence to establish the first Leonardo da Vinci Museum in North America.

Currently, several da Vinci models are stored in Pueblo, Colorado, and are loaned out to partnering museums nationwide.

“The growing interest in these exhibits and the support from Pueblo made it the perfect location for the first Leonardo da Vinci Museum in North America,” said Arrigo. “Pueblo’s rich history in steelmaking and manufacturing makes it an ideal place to celebrate da Vinci’s genius and inspire future generations to explore STEAM fields.”
